Transfers

Transfers

Move stock between bins of one warehouse, or between warehouses (ship, in transit, receive); every step posts to the stock ledger.

Before you start

Needs an open built-in book. Supervisors and administrators create, ship and receive; only administrators reverse. Between warehouses, members of the source ship and members of the destination receive. Choosing a posting date other than today needs the backdating permission, which supervisors and administrators have by default.

Steps

1. New transfer: choose internal or between warehouses, the source and destination, search for products and bins, and enter lots and quantities. The posting date starts on today, follows the planned date when you fill one in, and can be set by hand.

2. An internal move is done when you choose Move now, or Move on a saved draft. Between warehouses, choose Ship at the source; the goods go to the destination's in-transit bin.

3. When the goods arrive, choose Receive at the destination, in one or several parts, each with its bin, quantity and posting date. Receiving cannot be dated before shipping.

Verify the result

The In transit tab shows what is on the way; the transfer is done when everything has arrived.

Notes and examples

Example: 50 cases from north to south arrive as 30 and then 20; meanwhile each warehouse's reports show its own side.

Limitations

Only available stock (on hand minus reserved) can leave. The in-transit bin cannot be chosen on a line. Open transfers block switching the WMS mode. A posting date cannot change once posted; to correct it, reverse and create a new transfer. Moving now and shipping cannot use a future date.

Troubleshooting

If shipping is refused, check the source bin's available stock. A refused reversal of a receipt usually means the goods were moved on; move them back first. Lists show the last 7 days of posting dates by default, and unfinished documents always show; widen the posting or planned dates to find older ones.
