Products and bins
Maintain the built-in WMS product master and barcodes, and the bins and zones of each warehouse.
Before you start
Viewing needs a supervisor or administrator; adding and editing products needs a supervisor or administrator; adding, editing and deleting bins and deleting products is for administrators. The page is used with the built-in WMS.
Steps
1. Under Products choose Add, enter the code, name, spec and unit; tick lot tracking when the product needs lots and expiry dates, and optionally a default shelf life in days.
2. Under Bins first pick the warehouse, then choose Add, enter the bin code and pick its type: receiving, storage, staging, shipping or virtual; optionally set the zone above it.
3. Add barcodes when needed (separate several with commas); deactivate products or bins you no longer use. For many records, choose Add in bulk: upload a template, type on the page or paste from Excel.
Verify the result
Receipts, transfers, counts, opening imports and outbound reservations all use these products and bins.
Notes and examples
Example: in warehouse 0000 create receiving bin R-01 and storage bin A-01-01; a receipt then arrives in R-01 and is put away to A-01-01.
Limitations
A product with stock moves or used on a document keeps its code; a product with stock moves keeps its lot tracking and cannot be deleted; a bin with stock moves keeps its code and cannot be deleted, and cannot be deactivated while it holds stock.
Troubleshooting
If a product is not found, search by code, name or the full barcode; if a code or barcode is taken, use another one or reactivate the old record; if a bin cannot be deactivated, move or count-adjust its stock first.
