Custom import formats
Manage this site’s order import formats: add marketplace templates from the library, map your own columns, or exchange format files with SortingGo App.
Before you start
The DG order source must be enabled. View-order permission allows viewing and export; change-order permission allows adding, editing, deleting, reordering and importing formats. Prepare a real Excel or CSV order sample before creating a format.
Steps
1. Choose a platform under Add from library and click Add. This copies the template into an editable site format; only then does it appear in the Import orders format selector. Adding a format does not import orders. Use the new-format wizard if you need your own layout.
2. 1. Name and sample file: Choose an order file exported from the platform as a sample; it shows the sheets, the header and the columns. The sample is only read, never kept. You can change a format without a sample file; to change the header, the fields or to preview, choose one.
2. Sheet and header row: Sheet; Header row; Always read the first sheet, whatever its name; Find the header row (the first of the top 20 rows with every mapped column); Rows to skip below the header.
3. Field mapping: Map automatically; Required; Use the row above when blank; From the quantity column; No quantity column: 1 per row (same product in an order added up).
4. Filters: Import only the rows that match, for example “Order status” equals “To ship”. With no condition every row is imported. All conditions (AND); Any condition (OR).
5. Short-name rule: For long product names, a rule makes the short name SortingGo shows and speaks. Short names set on the Product short names page come first.
6. Dates and text files: Date order (when the year comes last); Delimiter (text files); Text encoding.
7. Preview and save: Preview; Save format; Save and import orders.
3. Use Sorting_Fmt_*.xlsx to exchange formats between DG and SortingGo App. Export one format or all formats. After importing, check successes, renamed formats and failures. These files contain configuration; select the actual order file separately on Import orders and preview it.
Verify the result
After saving, check the name, file type, mapping count and filters. Save and import orders opens the import page with that format selected; you still choose a file, preview it and confirm the import. Creating a format does not create orders.
Notes and examples
The list is shared by this site; sorting affects the list and import choices. Library copies and shared-file imports rename duplicate names automatically; manual creation or editing requires a unique name. App lists do not sync automatically: exchange files.
Limitations
Editing or deleting a format does not reprocess existing orders; import history remains. Sample files and opening passwords are not saved. Filters allow up to 50 rules and 5 group levels. Preview does not write orders.
Troubleshooting
If a format is absent, save it or add it from the library, then reopen Import orders. For missing columns, check the sheet, header row and required mappings; recheck after changing headers. Check CSV encoding for garbled text. Preview requires a sample. For shared-file failures, check the FormatConfig sheet, file version and failure list.
Why is a marketplace template missing from the import selector?
Choose a platform under Add from library and click Add. This copies the template into an editable site format; only then does it appear in the Import orders format selector. Adding a format does not import orders. Use the new-format wizard if you need your own layout.
After saving, check the name, file type, mapping count and filters. Save and import orders opens the import page with that format selected; you still choose a file, preview it and confirm the import. Creating a format does not create orders.
Can I use a SortingGo App custom format in DG?
Use Sorting_Fmt_*.xlsx to exchange formats between DG and SortingGo App. Export one format or all formats. After importing, check successes, renamed formats and failures. These files contain configuration; select the actual order file separately on Import orders and preview it.
